Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A query typed into a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the terms and supplies its results. Search terms are not stored or logged by Dodge County Criminal History.
Messages and Contact Submissions
A message sent by email may be retained long enough to review and answer it. It stays within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server and analytics records may capture technical facts about a visit:
- Device IP address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent
- Referring website, when supplied
- Date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files used to understand traffic and site performance. Analytics may combine visit data to show which pages are useful and where technical problems occur. Browser controls can block cookies, although some functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate and maintain the website
- Route a voluntary query to the selected search partner
- Measure page use and improve content
- Find performance, security, or technical faults
- Support advertising that may reflect general interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Dodge County Criminal History does not keep, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to Dodge County Clerk of Courts, the Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin DOJ Crime Information Bureau, Wisconsin DOC, and the Wisconsin Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
An outside company powers each partner search tool. Information entered there is handled under that company's privacy policy, including its retention and sharing rules. Review those terms before submitting a query because those practices are outside this site's control.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Dodge County offices, Wisconsin courts and agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves, the destination's privacy policy applies. Advertising providers may also use their own systems to measure activity across websites.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- A search partner that receives a query
- Analytics services used for traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that place site ads
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used for information under the site's control. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so a breach or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out completely.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Data identified as belonging to a minor will be removed when that fact becomes known.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may permit a person to ask what personal data is held, seek a correction or deletion, or object to some processing. The Wisconsin Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. §§ 19.31–19.39, governs access to government records and does not make this private site a public custodian. Wis. Stat. § 165.83 governs criminal-history reporting to Wisconsin DOJ, not visitor analytics here. At a minimum, a visitor may:
- Request a copy of personal data held by the site
- Ask that inaccurate data be corrected
- Request deletion where retention is not required
- Opt out of processing where applicable law provides that choice
